This week is NeighborWorks Week and we’re joining 200 other NeighborWorks organizations to mobilize tens of thousands of residents, business people and government officials in a week-long celebration of neighborhood change and awareness. REACH’s Community Builders Program has begun work to provide critical home repairs to help 12 longtime homeowners retain their homes and remain in their communities, thanks to a $110,000 grant award from the Portland Housing Bureau. We teamed up with Lease Crutcher Lewis to completely transform a Portland home. Due to a disability this resident has been unable to keep-up maintenance on his yard and foliage was engulfing his home. With a yard nuisance fine looming, we worked with Lease Crutcher Lewis to bring out 18 incredible volunteers to not only avoid fines, but also made a big impact on his home and larger neighborhood.
