2012 Paint & Repair-a-thon

It’s almost here!  On Saturday, August 4, 2012, REACH will celebrate the annual Paint & Repair-a-thon, our signature home repair event. In honor of REACH’s 30th anniversary, hundreds of volunteers will come together to make repairs on 30 homes! This event is only possible with the support of our local community.

The Paint & Repair-a-thon will take place on Saturday, August 4, 2012 from 8:00 – 2:30pm.  We’ll be making repairs on homes primarily in N/NE Portland for our senior and disabled neighbors in need.  As a sponsor, you and your employees will join hundreds of volunteers for a fun, “hands on” day of community service, performing activities such as carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing and yard clean up.  This year, we’re excited to be partnering with Electrical Workers Minority Caucus (IBEW LU 48), who will be providing 50 electricians to complete electrical safety checks and repairs!

The Community Builders Program is a free, neighborhood-based home repair delivery service sponsored by REACH Community Development, available to low-income senior and disabled homeowners throughout the City of Portland.  “REACH is committed to helping Portland’s seniors be able to live safely in their homes,” says Dee Walsh, Executive Director.  “We’re thrilled to be partnering with the local business community, who are dedicating a very generous amount of their time, resources, and employees to help our senior citizens stay safe in their homes.” 

We can only do this with your support. REACH must raise all cash and materials through our local business partners. To support the event, we need CASH, IN-KIND LABOR and DONATED MATERIALS. Participating is not only fun for your company, but a wonderful opportunity to give back to our community while receiving great publicity. REACH will coordinate everything. You just need to show up ready to wield a hammer, paintbrush or other tool. We also take care of lunch and snacks. Please note: the number of company volunteer spaces is based on sponsorship levels.
