Paint & Repair-a-thon
Thanks to all of our volunteers and supporters for making REACH’s 24th Annual Paint and Repair-a-thon a great success! For 24 years, thousands of volunteers have made repairs on hundreds of homes throughout the Portland metropolitan region, providing a helping hand to our senior and disabled neighbors in need. On Saturday, August 3rd, nearly 300 volunteers cam together to paint and repair 23 homes for Portland’s senior and disabled citizens. Our stellar volunteers made it happen with their skills, enthusiasm and dedication. We couldn’t have done it without them!
We had a wonderful send off in the park with a fiddle performance by one of the homeowners and Community Builder’s very own Josiah Broomfield! Over the course of the day houses were painted, yards cleaned, electrical work completed, bathrooms rebuilt, ramps constructed, kitchen floors repaired, gutters cleaned, and windows replaced - WOW! Collectively, our volunteers made over 120 repairs. With our volunteers’ help, the seniors we worked with will be able to stay safe in their homes. And it means a lot to the senior citizens to have volunteers providing a helping hand. We know homeowners like Mrs. High were extremely grateful for the beautiful new paint job on their homes. Pictures are coming soon! In the meantime, check out pictures from 2012 here!
The Paint and Repair-a-thon highlights the extensive free home repair work the Community Builders Program does year round. We can only do this with the support of our community. REACH raises all cash and materials through our local business partners. To support the event, we need cash, in-kind labor and donated materials. Please consider making a donation to the Community Builders Program to help raise funds for next year’s Paint and Repair-a-thon and support free home repairs this program completes throughout the year
