Employment Support Day Success!
For REACH’s First Employment Support Day, we brought together community members, local organizations, and volunteers to empower individuals seeking employment and foster connections within the community.
A Collaborative Effort
REACH extends its heartfelt gratitude to KeyBank for their unwavering support. Their belief in the work allowed REACH to create an impactful event that met people where they are and built strong relationships in employment. Thank you to the ODHS Employee Resource Group, B.E.S.T. (Black Employee Support Team) for supporting this event!
The day was filled with informative workshops and skills training sessions. Participants had the opportunity to learn from experts at organizations such as:
- Urban League of Portland (ULPDX)
- Goodwill Job Connection
- WorkSource and PCC Opportunity Center at Portland Community College
- Oregon Department of Human Services
The Job Fair
The highlight of the day was the Job Fair, where job seekers connected with local employers. Representatives from various companies and organizations were present, including:
- Habitat for Humanity Portland Region
- Rivermark Credit Union
- Providence Oregon
- Ario PDX
- GardaWorld
- Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT)
- Constructing Hope PDX
- DPI Security
- Business Draft
- Job Corps
- POIC
Fueling the Day
Papa John’s generously provided delicious pizzas, fueling the participants as they navigated the fair. Meanwhile, the sounds of local musicians from Friends of Noise filled the air, creating a lively and supportive atmosphere. Goodwill, ODHS Employee Resource Group, B.E.S.T. (Black Employee Support Team), Dress For Success, Next Adventure, and POIC RAHS all donated great raffle prizes for attendees!
Volunteers: The Heart of the Event
None of this would have been possible without the dedicated volunteers. They supported residents, served food, captured incredible photos (shoutout to Au!), and tirelessly set up tables, chairs, and tents. Their commitment and teamwork made Employment Support Day a resounding success.
