REACH Welcomes Two New Board Members: Ariel Nelson and Janice Lineberger
Ariel Nelson: A Policy Leader Driving Systemic Change
Ariel Nelson brings over a decade of experience in government relations and housing policy. Currently serving as the Government Relations Manager for the City of Hillsboro, Ariel has also held key roles at the League of Oregon Cities, Oregon Housing and Community Services, and the City of Portland. Her career has focused on systems alignment, policy implementation, and cross-sector collaboration.
“Housing is a foundational issue, and I’m honored to join the REACH Board to help advance their vital mission,” Ariel said. “REACH has a long legacy of impact, and I look forward to contributing to its strategic vision and community-centered approach.”
Margaret Salazar noted Ariel’s strategic insight and bridge-building skills:
“Her deep policy expertise and passion for community development will be invaluable as we continue our work to create more affordable homes and equitable neighborhoods.”
Janice Lineberger: A Resident Voice for Equity and Inclusion
Janice Lineberger joins the Board as a REACH resident and lifelong advocate for affordable housing. Her diverse background includes work as a publisher and editor, small business owner, and volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. Janice’s lived experience—as a parent, homeowner, and now affordable housing resident—offers a vital lens into the real-world needs and aspirations of the communities REACH serves.
“I believe affordable housing and homelessness are among the most urgent challenges facing Portland and our country,” Janice shared. “As a REACH resident and family member of another REACH resident, I’m proud to contribute to the mission of creating stability and opportunity for others.”
Margaret Salazar, CEO of REACH, emphasized the importance of Janice’s perspective:
“Her thoughtful approach to community issues will help REACH grow our impact and stay grounded in the experiences of those who live in our communities.”
Together, Janice and Ariel represent the heart and strategy of REACH’s mission—grounded in lived experience and driven by policy innovation. We are thrilled to welcome them to our Board and look forward to the leadership and vision they will bring.
Please join us in warmly welcoming Ariel Nelson and Janice Lineberger to the REACH Board of Directors!
