2024 Strategic Initiatives

REACH is proud to unveil its 2024 Strategic Initiatives, a comprehensive roadmap designed to enhance community development and support sustainable growth.

Opening Doors: 300+ New Homes by 2025

The demand for additional housing in the Portland region is increasing, with a projected target of nearly 120,000 new homes by 2045. In alignment with this goal, REACH remains steadfast in our commitment to providing affordable housing options for all. REACH continues to drive the production of new homes, with a goal to bring more than 300 homes online by the conclusion of 2025.

Safe & Stable Homes - Housing Retention

At REACH we are proud to help individuals and families move into safe and stable homes. But our work doesn’t end on move-in day. We are building tools to help residents stay safe and stably housed and retain their housing over the long term. REACH is bolstering our capacity to receive rental subsidies, partner with community organizations to provide short and long-term rental assistance, support resident retention, and provide new technology to help residents stay current on their rent and build financial security.  Through these initiatives, we aim to mitigate houselessness and safeguard affordable housing for residents.

Health + Housing

A safe and stable home is a fundamental aspect of the social determinants of health. However, to facilitate comprehensive well-being, housing is just the first step. REACH is expanding Permanent Supportive Housing and exploring new partnerships with health systems. We know that “housing first” does not mean “housing only.” We will work with the intention to broaden our service, offerings to bolster support for community members, particularly those with a history of houselessness. This entails enhanced accessibility to mental health resources harnessing new opportunities to connect to Medicaid funding for housing supports.

Green, Sustainable and Climate Resilient Homes

REACH will recapitalize and breathe new life into existing properties to preserve their long-term viability and affordability while addressing our community’s pressing climate and resiliency needs. Within REACH’s portfolio are numerous properties housing some of our community’s most vulnerable populations. Many of these properties are aging and requiring additional attention and maintenance. REACH is harnessing public and private funding opportunities to preserve the affordability of these homes for years to come, leading with energy efficiency and climate resilience. Through strategic allocation of resources, we aim to improve the living conditions of our residents while advancing environmental sustainability.

BIPOC Homebuying Partnerships

REACH is working to facilitate new pathways to homeownership and wealth building to redress the disparities among Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities. REACH seeks to establish partnerships with community-based organizations specializing in assisting BIPOC first-time homebuyers. Through this collaboration, we aim to reposition single-family homes within the SE Portland portfolio, thereby fostering increased homeownership opportunities and wealth creation for BIPOC families.
